
Sally Howard
I am an artist and designer working in Fingringhoe, Essex. I started my career working at the Wolsey Theatre, Ipswich as a Scenic Carpenter. I also qualified in City & Guilds cabinet making and then Art Foundation at Ipswich Art School. I specialised in Theatre Design and Production at Croyden College, London.

From my home studio in Fingringhoe, I work in a wide range of art practices from Stained Glass, Painting & Drawing to Lino Printing, Mosaic and Textiles. Gathering inspiration from nature and the local country and coastal areas.

My work covers a range of painting, drawing, printing and stained glass work using traditional skills and techniques.

I work with traditional materials, tools and techniques. My work includes lead work, copper foil and glass painting. I enjoy making natural organic pieces referencing the surrounding area. I have also completed architectural interior installations from commissions.
Over my professional career I have designed set and costume for many productions, many for the Mercury Theatre, Colchester. I have designed for Theatre in Education, touring and Regional Theatre plays and pantomimes. Examples of my portfolio of work can be found HERE
Coming from a strong art background and working as a professional Scenic Artist and Prop Maker, painting has been in my life as long as I can remember. I take inspiration from the local area and nature,. I use many paint techniques in my work from Oils, inks and acrylics.
I have been interested in the human form, currently running Life Drawing sessions at Prested Hall, Feering, Essex. After a break, I have started portrait painting again. It have always enjoyed the challenge of the portraits have completed and I am available for commissions.
